2022 Stewardship Letter

Dear Church Family,

With all that’s happened during these past few years – a global pandemic, economic turmoil, and countless changes to our personal lives, we can see the blessings God has bestowed on us here at FPC.  Our Sunday attendance continues to grow with people returning to in-person worship and with all the new people joining us to worship each week.  Many of our beloved programs that had been shut down are now starting back up.  Our music program is up and running.  Children and Youth are filling our building.  People are gathering for meals through Dinners for 8, Small Groups and Prime timers.  Life is beginning to feel normal once again.

Every year, during the month of November, we focus our attention on stewardship.  This spiritual discipline of our lives fits perfectly with the UP season in our Rhythms of Discipleship.  “The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it. The world and all its people belong to him.” Psalms 24:1. We are merely managing God’s resources during our time on earth.
Why do we give?  Many people would say that we give to support the ministries of our church.  But we believe that giving is an encounter between you and God about the money and possessions He’s entrusted to your care.  The church becomes the beneficiary of what happens when you have that encounter.  We give because of our relationship with God, not because our church needs our money. “Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.”
2 Corinthians 9:7-8

These times continue to be unusual, but the question we need to ask ourselves remains the same: “What is God calling me to give?” Every pledge is important to FPC! No pledge is too large or too small if it’s given in gratitude to God.  Every pledge matters!

Our goal for 2023 is an 5% increase in pledge income.

This year there are three different ways to submit a 2023 Pledge Card:

If you fill out a paper card, you can return it to the church by mail, or you can drop it in a designated place in the sanctuary at our Consecration Sunday worship service on November 20, 2022.
Thank you for your commitment to the ministry of First Presbyterian Church Tacoma!

In Christ,
